How can I have my team’s article published?

To confirm your participation, you must send us an abstract of your paper: this is a short summary of the article you plan on submitting as your final work. You will then have a month to finish your paper, which can be a literature review on a topic of your choice or a research paper of your iGEM project.

Submission of your paper  will be followed by a month-long round of double-blind peer review, where each team will have to anonymously review the paper of three other iGEM teams. This review will consist of a grading rubric, accompanied by a short summary of your views on the paper and open questions to be answered.

The peer review will be sent back to us, and the papers will be ranked based on average grade. After that, you will be notified if your article has been accepted!

On top of this, the three best articles will be forwarded to researchers and journal editors working in the field of synthetic biology for review and feedback. The articles and the review from the researchers and editors will be included in the journal, which will be published in October.

What are the deadlines for publishing my articles?

Here you can find the deadlines for article and peer review submission, together with a link to download the deadlines in your own calendar!

Can my article really be reviewed by professionals?

We have contacted many figures of the synthetic biology landscape to help us in this project. We are asking them to give feedback on the papers that you send us. However, only the best three papers (based on average grade) will be sent to them, so make sure to send us your best work!

The third edition!
